Situated between the extraordinary beauty of Noto and the ancient city of Siracusa, Villa Gioello is a nineteenth-century masseria (country house) on a 60-acre country estate in Noto in southeastern Sicily. The sprawling estate, set around three courtyards, retains its original architecture which has been decorated with unique and vintage objects and colorful design elements. The estate has a large quadrangular courtyard which is overlooked by the bedrooms.
The estate is composed of 11 ensuite bedrooms ranging in size from 215 to 485 square feet, each with a terrace. Each bedroom has its own design concept and have refer to Sicilian works and artists, from cinema to art, from poetry to opera. The property owners wanted to pay homage to the extraordinary performers who made this wonderful region great all over the world. The communal rooms have authentic Renaissance frescoes, brought back to their original splendor. The floors are lined with handmade Moroccan tiles in different forms and Mediterranean colors, such as mid-blue grey and the shades of green.
There is a manor house that has four rooms with original ceilings and elegant furniture, all of them offer a beautiful view of the valley, while two of them have a private terrace, an intimate area with a view of the natural landscape. The manor garden has original classical columns and terraces.
Outside you can lounge by the saltwater pool or in any of the three large courtyards or wander around the 60-acre grounds filled with lavender, olive trees and an organic vegetable garden that supplies the compound’s kitchen. If you want to venture off the grounds, the most beautiful beaches, Fontane Bianche, with cliffs and white sand, and the Vendicari Reserve are less than 30 minutes away. For cultural buffs, the Baroque towns of Noto and Ragusa Ibla are nearby as well as Siracusa and the intricate mosaics in Palazzolo Acreide that is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
