On a clear day, from the highest point on the estate, the towers of Siena can be seen glistening in the sunlight.
Villa Amiata’s location is ideally positioned for you to experience the beauty, culture, wine and gastronomy of Southern Tuscany. The medieval walled-town of Buonconvento with its restaurants and bars, shops selling local produce as well as a supermarket and railway station, is a short seven minute drive. Montalcino and its famous Brunello vineyards are 15 minutes away, whilst Siena and the hilltop towns of Pienza and San Quirico d’Orcia, and the thermal baths at Bagno di Vignonie are all accessible within 30 minutes.
Floor Plan
The ground floor of Villa Amiata was designed with entertaining in mind, whilst providing privacy for those who wish to relax in their own personal space. There is a beautiful sitting room with French windows opening on to a more private terrace. Furnished in an elegant style and connected to the kitchen and dining areas, there is a large travertine fireplace for winter evenings which can serve both as a TV room and library, as well as an additional guest room. The studio is stocked with additional reading materials and a laptop PC that guests are free to use. Immediately underneath the studio is a beautiful wine cellar stocked with an array of some of the most renowned wines from the region.
Walk across the courtyard that separates the villa from the ‘A’ wing and you will find yourself in a lavish entertainment space. The entire building is light-filled with soaring ceilings, magnificent iron doors on to the courtyard and French windows that open on to the A wing’s own terrace. With three distinct yet interconnected areas, this is a fantastic entertaining space. There is a large sitting/media room complete with fireplace, Samsung Smart TV, Sonos system, and enough comfortable sofas to accommodate the entire family or a large group of friends. There is the one of a kind bar area with a large individually designed travertine bar table and a bar unit complete with fridge, wine fridge, and everything you need to make that summer cocktail. There is also a handmade full-sized billiard table and card/games tables.
The bespoke handmade kitchen and butler’s pantry beautifully compliment the soaring ceilings and unique terracotta columns that dominate the kitchen and dining area. With a large Lacanche stove, microwave, large fridge, an additional larder fridge and two dishwashers, supplemented by every gadget you can think of making this room a cook’s paradise. The large chestnut dining table can seat 14 for more formal dining occasions, whilst outside, numerous travertine cafe tables are dotted around the courtyard, where you can enjoy your breakfast either in shady corners or basking in the morning sun.
At the end of the day, whether you have enjoyed exploring the region’s cultural attractions, savoring the local food and wine, or simply relaxed soaking up the sun by the pool, your luxurious room or suite awaits. With Vi-spring beds, the finest Busatti linens and towels, individually designed travertine bathrooms and organic Tuscan toiletries, no expense has been spared to ensure an exceptionally comfortable and memorable stay.
The magnificent travertine pool with an infinity-edge overlooks the private lake below San Luigi, with far-reaching views across to the Crete Senesi and Val D’Orcia. There is an exceptional external kitchen and dining area complete with BBQ and pizza oven, fridge and ice-maker to ensure you can keep cool whilst you lounge by the pool. The expansive terrace is furnished with sun-loungers and umbrellas, whilst the bathroom beneath the pool houses a large rainfall shower for cooling down.
