Grounds and Amenities
Common Areas and Grounds
Casa Colonica is a completely renovated farmhouse originally built in the mid 1800’s. It is one of several stand-alone villas located on an immense and spectacular 22-acre site that was privately held by Florentine aristocrats until 1948, at which time it was developed into a luxury hotel site. Casa Colonica was meticulously restored in 2018, with careful attention to the blending of classical Tuscan style with all the modern conveniences and amenities required for today’s discerning traveler.
The two-story dwelling encircles an internal courtyard serenely appointed with comfy lounge chairs and the wafts of fresh jasmine floating on the breeze. A smaller garden is accessed directly from the downstairs deluxe or junior suite. Guests can choose a completely private experience within the walls of Casa Colonica or venture out into the main property, where seemingly endless gardens, a high-end spa and restaurant, and the splendor of the Chianti region await exploration.
The modern kitchen offers seating for 8 around self-served or chef-created meals that can set the tone for a day of sightseeing or act as the finishing touch to a day well spent. Breakfast service is available upon request. The stocked refrigerator and pantry offer guests easy access to all the basic necessities like sugar, oil, salt, and the like.
Deluxe Suites and Junior Suite
Although each suite has its own individual design, they all incorporate traditional Tuscan style and materials, such as terracotta, stone, wrought iron, wood, and warm tones that are complemented by contemporary details. Each suite has an en suite bathroom with double vanities, shower, tub, and water closet, all finished in polychromatic Santafiora stone and ceramics.
The ground floor deluxe suite features a hand painted ancient fresco on the wall behind the canopy bed. The generous living area is furnished with a mix of antique pieces and cozy seating options configured around a jaw dropping silk rug. The color palette is ochre, blue, and wine. A small garden is accessible through this suite and the junior suite. The junior suite is vibrant with striped tones of emerald green, brick red, purple, and orange. The unique bed frame was inspired by the Santa Maria del Fiore cupola and is a site to behold.
Upstairs, guests will find two deluxe suites, tastefully and thoughtfully appointed for their pleasure and comfort. One of the upstairs suites has ceilings that peak at over 15 feet, giving it a loft-like feel. It is styled in varying tones of blue and orange-red and features tables hand-crafted by local Tuscan artisans and an iron canopy bed. The final suite is inspired by pastoral scenes, using orange, blue, and green to create an inviting environment. The artistic upholstered headboard is fashioned in a heraldic emblem style and a standout design feature of the sleeping quarters.
