Right in the heart of this countryside, but a close drive to the most iconic Tuscan hilltowns, Siena and Florence, Podere Rossellino is a sophisticated retreat that is a hybrid between an elegant private villa and stylish country inn, where laidback luxury, privacy and personal attention are the primary focus.
The four-acre property features outdoor dining areas, an infinity pool overlooking the Val D’Orcia and spacious guest rooms with sweeping views, modern furnishings, air-conditioned guest rooms and luxurious linens.
The farmhouse sits on a hillside that is home to several working sheep farms whose flocks can be seen grazing most of the year on the green pastures, looked over by large white Maremmani sheepdogs panting in the sun. Each evening, as you gather for sunset cocktails, you can watch the farmers round up the sheep and walk them back to their barns along stone paths, and listen to the tinkling of their bells. You can even follow them down to the barn and pet the lambs. The sheep provide the milk for the famous Tuscan cheese known as “Pecorino di Pienza”. The nearby town of Pienza is the capital of Pecorino.
The property sleeps 16 adults and several children comfortably. There are 7 double rooms in the main house and 1 suite in a stand alone stone cottage about 15 meters away from the main house. Two cots for infants and two fold out twin beds can be offered.
Outdoors, there is a shaded dining area with views over the expansive Tuscan valley. The dining areas rests on a wood decking floor and is equipped with a bar and outdoor sink and long wood tables that seats up to 20. There are also two soft outdoor sofas, and a sunken fire pit with beautiful views. By the pool is a large shaded pergola. This has wood decking and also has a bar with a refrigerator that is kept stocked by the staff with wine, soft drinks, water and beer. There is a card table here with games, yoga mats and blankets, an I-Pod dock, and a soft sofa. Pool towels are included and replaced by the staff each day.
